RAGBRAI stands for Register Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa – the only event where you willingly bike hundreds of miles across Iowa during July while enjoying scenic views, small-town hospitality, and a true sense of community among fellow cyclists.
It’s like summer camp for adults, but with more Lycra and fewer campfires.
RAGBRAI, began in 1973 as a simple bet between two newspaper editors. What started as a one-time ride across Iowa has grown into the largest, longest, and oldest recreational bicycle touring event in the world. Each summer, thousands of cyclists traverse the state, experiencing Iowa’s small towns, scenic landscapes, and vibrant communities over seven days. RAGBRAI is more than just a ride—it’s a cherished tradition that highlights camaraderie, fitness, and Americana spirit.
This year RAGBRAI begins on July 20th in Orange City and concludes in Guttenberg, Iowa on July 26th.
